I was very fortunate to grow up in an airline family. My father worked for Pan American World Airways for over 40 years, so I had the opportunity to travel at a very early age, which was paramount in developing my passion for other places and cultures.
Although my father is no longer with us, I have continued his legacy by owning a travel agency, which is a member of the prestigious group, Virtuoso. Because of this, I have had the opportunity to visit many exotic islands from the archipelago of Stockholm to the mystical, magical islands of Indonesia. I just returned from New Zealand and Australia after participating in a private jet and helicopter tour exploring both the North and South Islands.
Even though my agency is located on the West Coast in Seattle, Washington with a branch office in Whistler Canada. I have spent weeks at a time in the Caribbean exploring some of the less populated islands and cultures. Some of my favorites are Mustique and Saba, as well as the hot, popular spots like St. Barth's.
My agency specializes in Honeymoons, and Hawaii and Tahiti are our most popular destinations. Our newlyweds range from those wanting a traditional one week stay, to the more adventuresome couples who island hop from Hawaii to Tahiti and on to Fiji. I remember as a child in the 70's, helping my father unload beer from the supply boat on the island of Bora Bora for the Hotel Bora Bora. And now, my most recent visit was to the amazing Four Seasons Bora Bora Resort and Spa. What a contrast. Still, the best meal on Bora Bora is found at La Villa Mahana with chef/owner Damien Rinaldi Dovio.
But don’t expect to wander in at the last minute - his six tables are booked months in advance. He always seems to find a table for my clients though, and they always come home raving about it.
