Beyond the luxury resorts, golf courses, beaches and nightlife that Maui is known for, there's a majestic, quiet side that emerges when travelers know where to look. It is certainly an island that offers an ideal escape, no matter how tranquil or adventurous you want that escape to be.
On assignment for ISLANDS, Kim Steuterman Rogers recently traced an amazing road trip across the northwest shore of the island, from Kapalua to Wailuku.
