A True Taste of Malaysia
ISLANDS contributing editor Christine Richard recently explored Penang (also spelled Pinang) for the magazine feature "Penang on Five Senses a Day." On this Malaysian island near Thailand, she experienced the multi-ethnic flavors and cultures for which Penang is famous.
Christine's journey centers around her search for nyonya -- a traditional way of cooking that draws on Chinese, Malay and other influences. Both the search and, ultimately, the table filled with nyonya made the trip. Read the full story.
