A Typical Day on Assignment
Get up early to shoot amazing island sunrises. Or sleep in (this is your vacation). After breakfast, we’ll share our favorite techniques when shooting stories for Islands. Then we’ll take those tips to the beaches, volcanoes, farms and iconic Hawaiian sites. Spend the day exploring, shooting and making memories, like an Islands photographer. After a delicious dinner back at the resort, our staff will review your photos while relaxing with an ice-cold Longboard Lager.

The Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel is located on Hawaii’s beautiful Kohala Coast. Nestled in Hapuna Bay, the resort overlooks Hapuna Beach State Park. This will be the gathering place for breakfasts, dinners, cocktail hours, photo tips, and pre-event and post-event parties.
You’ll be picked up at Kona International Airport on Saturday, October 5, and taken to the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel for a casual welcome reception. Get to know Islands senior staff photographer Jon Whittle and Islands photo editor Lori Barbely.
$4,980 covers all seven nights at the resort, gourmet meals, ground transportation, all excursions, photography lessons on location, photo critiques, exposure for your images on our website and social-media outlets, and staff tips. A second photographer can share the same room for just $4,555. You can bring a non-photographer spouse or friend and pay just $6999 for the two of you (special bundle rate valid through August 19), which covers seven nights at the resort (double occupancy), meals, ground transportation and special excursions apart from the photography group.
