Plan Your Trip to Maui

From world-famous surf breaks to whimsical communities to sweeping views from Haleakala, Maui has an amazing array of attractions, plus rainbows almost daily.

FLY direct to Maui from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Dallas-Fort Worth, Seattle, Phoenix and other cities. Fly indirect from everywhere planes go.

STAY at Paia Inn in Paia town, at the intersection of the Hana Highway (running from Kahului toward Hana) and Baldwin Avenue (running upcountry toward Haleakala Crater). The five-room boutique hotel puts you in the heart of the eclectic action, fronted by Avi Kiriaty Gallery and surrounded by surf shops and other shops.

EAT wood-fired pizza at Flatbread a couple doors down from Paia Inn. Heading mauka (mountainward) up Baldwin Avenue, find Mana Foods, a grocery with ample stores of health food and other food, including locally grown and not locally grown produce. Try Maui apples and those little red bananas.

VISIT Ali'i Kula Lavender farm, take in the intoxicating scent and shop for a huge array of lavender-based products from honey to shampoo.

ENTER the bamboo forest along the so-called Seven Sacred Pools trail above 'Ohe'o Gulch in the Hana-side section of Haleakala National Park. The road past Hana drives through the park, but you have to pay to park your car and climb the trail. The trail through the forest accesses Waimoku Falls, as well as more than seven pools along the way, well worth the two-mile hike from the road.
