Garbage in the Atlantic Ocean

It drifts above and below the ocean’s surface hundreds of miles off the Atlantic Coast. It’s filled with reminders of home. And while it lacks a sandy beach, and it isn’t an island, our fingerprints are all over it. By now, you’ve heard of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Sadly, there’s also one in the Atlantic, and more emerging elsewhere.

Islands cinematographer Justin Lewis is creating a documentary film on the North Atlantic Trash Gyre, and a hard cover book showcasing the sea life it impacts. That is, if his project can gain more support. Check it out on Kickstarter where Justin’s visual talents make for a compelling pitch – especially for island lovers.
