On Eleuthera, which means "freedom" in Greek, tropical wilderness still reigns, as seen in deserted pink- and white-sand beaches and in its crystalline blue waters.
Expat Chris Maxey grew up in suburban Philadelphia but found his true home here. He now owns a townhouse at Cape Eleuthera on the island's southwestern tip.
