If you find yourself in this bungalow located on the southernmost tip of one of the Caribbean's most beloved private islands, you won't need a "Do Not Disturb" sign. Instead, raise a red flag on the bamboo pole at the front of your villa to alert the staff that you need privacy. The 113-acre island has 22 hillside and beach-front cottages and a staff that outnumbers guests by about two to one -- but no phones. That's why the primary means of communication on this rugged honeymooners' paradise are colored flags. In the cottage pictured above, take advantage of quiet isolation, soak in the uninterrupted views of Petite Martinique & Carriacou, or open louvered windows to enjoy the sea breeze. And then when you've had enough solitude, lower the red banner and raise a yellow one; you'll soon have a butler offering you a drink.
This image was shot with a Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II. To capture both the cottage's interior and the low-light exterior, shutter speed was one second at f/5 and ISO 400.
