Nonstop Flights From Los Angeles To The Caribbean

Los Angeles has gorgeous beaches that are widely filmed. Iconic examples include Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and the Malibu coastline. Despite their beauty and notoriety, LA's beaches have a dirty little secret: Most of them are unfortunately polluted. This is not the only drawback to LA's beaches. The Pacific Ocean is also notoriously chilly, leading beachgoers to yearn for warmer waters.

If you're an Angelino in this position, a flight from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to the Caribbean could do you good. The Caribbean Sea's temperatures are exceptionally balmy, and it has been known to be as warm as 90 degrees Fahrenheit. The same can be said about its climate. Unlike the Pacific Ocean, the Caribbean Sea is anything but murky. Do you need more reasons to visit the Caribbean islands

Yes, its breathtaking beauty and weather draw hordes of visitors, but so do the Caribbean's world-class resorts. Additionally, it's a paradise for foodies who love fresh seafood and local dishes like jerk chicken. However, what you need to know before planning your Caribbean vacation from LA is that there are only two destinations with nonstop flights from LAX. Despite the lack of options, you're guaranteed an island vacation of a lifetime.

From sunny Southern California to the lush Caribbean

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) offers nonstop flights to two Caribbean locations.

Alaska Airlines

  • Nassau, 5 hours, 19 minutes (LAX-NAS)

Cayman Airways

  • Grand Cayman, 5 hours, 30 minutes (LAX-GCM)

There are nonstop flights to the Cayman Islands, specifically to Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) in George Town, Grand Cayman. Operated by Cayman Airways, the Caribbean-based airline first launched this flight in November 2022. This route takes less than six hours from Los Angeles but does have some caveats. At the time of this publication, Cayman Airways only has flights departing from LAX twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. Similarly, flights back to LAX are only scheduled on Saturdays and Wednesdays, so plan accordingly.

Need attractions and sites to see on your itinerary? Find your bliss at Seven Mile Beach, known for its extraordinary sunset views. Or, tour the Cayman Crystal Caves and discover ancient stalagmites. On Seven Mile Beach, you'll find Villas of the Galleon. With rates as low as $650 a night for a one-bedroom villa, the three-star resort is an affordable lodging option in Grand Cayman. You can book a stay at the Villas of the Galleon online.

In addition to Grand Cayman, travelers from LAX can fly nonstop to the Bahamas' Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) in Nassau. The route, which was added in 2023, is also under six hours from LAX. At the time of this writing, it's available four times a week. Depending on when you travel, you can find one-way tickets to Nassau from LAX for as low as $133.
