This was taken on a remote island in the Pacific. I used a technique called painting with light which was done after dark with a full moon rising. I painted the foreground in with flashlights and colored gels and let the moon illuminate the background for 20 minutes. I used the clouds to diffuse the background while the moon was rising so it wouldn't become overexposed and blown out.
