  • History

  • It started with a vision: an authentic, intimate retreat that would show paradise virtually untouched. Fifty years later, Anthony's Key Resort is a top Caribbean destination, where travelers from across the world come to discover the wonders of Roatan as nature intended. The Key's pristine beach and surrounding waters have remained as unspoiled as when Julio Galindo Sr. and his wife, Cheryl Galindo, founded the resort in 1968.

  • Conservation has been a driving force of the resort's mission that has carried on through the years. Over the years, Anthony's Key Resort has become more green-conscious in every aspect, from creating a new on-site water-treatment plant to refining the cleaning products used at the resort. The constant dedication to the environment is what truly sets the resort apart from others in the Caribbean.

  • And that dedication doesn't stop at the boundaries of Anthony's Key. The Galindo family established the Roatan Institute of Marine Sciences in 1989 with the mission to preserve Roatan's natural resources through education and research. For almost 30 years, RIMS has hosted student groups who are interested in learning about the biology, geology and rich cultural history of the Bay Islands. Cheryl Galindo served for years as head of the board of directors for the Bay Islands Conservation Association, making an impact on multiple areas beyond the shoreline of Honduras.

  • Always Improving

  • Forward thinking and constant innovation is part of what draws guests back to Anthony's Key Resort again and again. To make improvements and renovations, the resort closes for a few weeks every October.

  • Sometimes, technical upgrades are needed. A hyperbaric chamber was created in partnership with Divers Alert Network; and this year, a new top-of-the-line air compressor was added so guests can be sure that the air in their tanks is pure and of good quality, especially when breathing Nitrox.
