Royal Caribbean's New Quantum-Class Cruises

Wow! Huh? Really? That's all we could say after we heard about Royal Caribbean's new Quantum-class cruises that debut in Fall 2014.

Thrills like Ripcord by iFly, a unique skydiving experience, and the North Star, a new ride that sends passengers 300-feet up in a glass capsule, are just a few of the new on-board activities. Oh, and there's also the roller-skating rink, bumper cars, trapeze training (yes, really), two-story music venue and a full-size basketball court to keep your schedule packed. When you're ready to chill, a new space called Two70 — aptly named for its floor to ceiling glass windows that boast a 270-degree view — is the ultimate multipurpose room. By day, lectures, dining and a library offer a great space to relax, and, by night, prepare to be surprised yet again with aerial artists, digital art and ice bars.

Even the digs are getting a makeover. Perhaps one of the coolest improvements in the larger staterooms (a welcome addition) are the "virtual balconies" that offer real-time video feeds from the exterior of the ship and excursions. But of course, when you want the real thing, all you have to do is head to the deck for one of our favorite things on cruises — an empty chaise and a full drink.
