Chris Hemsworth Loves These 5 Places In Australia

See where "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth likes to hang out in Australia.

Thor: Ragnarok, which was filmed on location in Australia, opens this weekend. In honor of the film, here are some of Chris Hemsworth's favorite places. Not only is he from Melbourne, he also serves as Australia's Global Tourism Ambassador — so you know these spots are worth the visit.

Byron Bay

Hemsworth's family lives in Byron Bay, and the Marvel superhero grew up in and around the water in Australia. Byron Bay is known for its diving, beaches and surfing, making it a popular holiday spot in New South Whales.

Orpheus Island

Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky spent time on Orpheus Island, a private island in the Great Barrier Reef, in August of 2017. They spent time chilling on the beach, paddleboarding, snorkeling and showing off Thor-like poses while climbing on the beach's rocky shore

Mount Waring

The promise of sunrise from Australia's Mount Warning was enough to make Hemsworth get up at 4:30 a.m. to take the 90-minute hike. We'd agree the views from the 3,800-foot-high peak are worth it.

Hamilton Island, Australia

Perfecting the art of the belly flop and practicing martial arts were on Hemsworth's agenda as he vacationed at Qualia Resort in Australia's Whitsundays. The Whitsundays are a group of 74 islands located between the northeast coast of Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef. Largely uninhabited, the islands feature dense rainforest and white-sand beaches.

Hayman Island

Hemsworth spent the day with his buddies and family on a small patch of sand — you can barely call it an island — near Hayman Island. Hayman Island is a private island located in the northern part of the Whitsunday Islands.
