Cruise to Costa Rica's Islands The islands of Costa Rica aren't as well-known as those of fellow Central American countries Belize, Honduras and Panama. Yet for travelers ready to make the journey, these islands offer escapes far from typical tourist destinations.

View Larger Map The Gulf of Nicoya is home to a handful of small islands, most notably the beautiful Isla Tortuga with its white-sand beaches and palm-tree-lined shores. Also off the Pacific coast is Caño Island, known for its pure-nature setting and surrounding reefs. Much farther afield is Cocos Island, an uninhabited island halfway to the Galapagos that offers shark diving.
