Best Islands to Live On: Roatan
July 12th, 2012
A reef swim is Roatan's equivalent of going for a walk through the neighborhood. It's why people keep their damp swimsuits on all day. But just as I began to think that lazing over the reef and drying off on a hammock was the dream that's turned so many travelers into retired expats, one such person challenged my thinking._ "Yeah, we can do that here,"_ he said, showing me miles of empty beach. Bikini Atoll
July 5th, 2012
Today marks the 66th anniversary of the bikini. On July 5, 1946, French designer Louis Reard unveiled a daring two-piece swimsuit at the Piscine Molitor in Paris. The garmet was named after Bikini Atoll where the US had tested a nuclear bomb just 5 days earlier. Réard hoped the burst of excitement it caused would be as explosive as an atomic bomb.
