In 2022, lifestyle content creator Nicole DeLosReyes posted a TikTok after she was nearly kicked out of Disney World for wearing a particular item of clothing: a tie-front top.
DeLosReyes told Dr. Phil that an employee told her she could not enter the park unless she bought a different shirt at a gift shop or changed. She decided to do the former.
She stated, "I wasn't told until I posted it on social media that the reason was because [...] it can either get undone and flash a kid on a ride or get stuck in the ride."
Many other young women in tie-front, tie-back, and halter tops have been "dress coded" at Disney. If you wear a tie-front shirt, bring a backup option in case you have to change.
Although specific items often get people kicked out, they aren't mentioned in the rules; the policy only states that clothing can't "[expose] excessive portions of the skin."
At one time, it appears Disney handed out free shirts to resolve dress code issues, but the policy seems to have been phased out. Many people online were disappointed by this.
