Find The Best Seafood In Alabama At One Underrated Coastal Town

VACATIONS

Alabama is home to one of the tastiest and most underrated Southern towns: Bayou la Batre. The town has amazing Gulf Coast seafood like shrimp, oysters, clams, and mussels.
Bayou la Batre became a vacation destination in 1811, but took a blow due to hurricanes in 1906 and 2005. The town has since recovered and is now the Seafood Capital of Alabama.
There are only a couple of places where you can buy freshly prepared and cooked fish and shrimp in Bayou la Batre, including Catalina and the Lighthouse Restaurant.
Bayou la Batre is truly the "Seafood Capital of Alabama" due to the number of fisheries and seafood markets in the area. You can find all kinds of markets along Shell Belt Road.
Besides buying bulk seafood, visitors to the area can also venture out to the gorgeous and impressive Dauphin Island, or go to the docks and watch the boats come in and out.
