VACATIONS

Bald Head Island has 14 miles of sun-kissed shoreline, some of the best beaches in North Carolina, and a peaceful serenity that is hard to achieve on America's East Coast.
Cars aren't allowed on the island, making it very peaceful. Over half of the island is the Bald Head Island Nature Reserve, and the area is steeped in history.
Golfing at the Bald Head Island Club is one of the most popular pastimes. Guests also rent bikes, walk the trails, kayak, and surf or search for seashells on the beautiful beaches.
Bald Head Island is notorious for its treacherous waters, so in 1817, the Old Baldy Lighthouse was born. Visitors can still climb the 108 stairs to reach the top of the lighthouse.
You can get to Bald Head Island by ferry. The crossing takes just 30 minutes, and your first stop should be Riverside Adventures to rent bikes.
