VACATIONS

Molokini Crater was formed over 230,000 years ago from a volcanic eruption. Today, it's an underwater crater over 300 feet deep with calm, cobalt waters and a diverse ecosystem.
The Molokini Crater is 2.5 miles off the coast of Maui. As snorkeling is common at Molokini, the wildlife is more comfortable around people, and you’ll see many colorful fish.
You can only visit Molokini via a chartered tour like the Molokini Snorkeling Adventure, which is on a multi-decked catamaran complete with slides and a glass-bottom viewing room.
The Molokini Crater Coast Adventure from Kihei through Viator is another popular tour. It comes with snorkel equipment, breakfast and lunch, and swim time at La Perouse Bay.
It is a good idea to bring a waterproof means of taking photos. While snorkeling, be aware of your surroundings to avoid breaking reefs or hitting sharks, and listen to your guide.
