VACATIONS
Albany is the oldest city in New York, having been claimed in 1609. It's older than the United States, so there are 400 years of history to explore, along with beaches and museums.
The city is perfect for a low-key weekend getaway, so two days is the minimum amount of time you should book. It would be ideal to visit during a long weekend to maximize time.
A visit to the New York State Museum will provide some context for the city and the rest of the state. It is free to visit and it steps away from the Empire State Plaza.
After a day of investigating the city, head to Grafton Lakes State Park or Brown's Beach, which is located on Saratoga Lake. You can relax at both options while the sun sets.
