Costa Rica is not a huge country, but it is a popular tourist destination. Consider going during the low tourist season, which is the cheapest and least crowded time to visit.
To maximize your budget, visit Costa Rica in the cheapest months of May, June, September, or October. During these months, hotels, car rentals, and restaurants reduce their prices.
May through November in Costa Rica is also the rainy season. Over half of Costa Rica is covered in rainforest, so it has a healthy amount of rainfall.
The amount of rain depends on the area — Golfito has more rainfall than Liberia or Puerto Limón. In the low season, the weather will be very warm, and you'll see more wildlife.
