Hike Around An Active Volcano At This Scenic US National Park

VACATIONS
Mount Rainier is both an active volcano and the tallest peak in the Pacific Northwest's Cascade Range. The 93-mile Wonderland Trail around its base is spectacular and challenging.
This trail yields incredible scenery that has a constant kaleidoscope of stunning views. One moment, you're traversing glaciated rock fields; the next, you're in a rainforest.
This hike isn't dangerous, but it's an endorphin-fueled endurance hike. According to The New York Times, only about 250 people complete the trail because of the short season.
An elaborate permit system also limits backpackers to the exact number of established campsites on the mountain. After getting a permit, you have to choose your campsite.
