Flight attendant putting bag in overhead bin

Make Sure You Get Overhead Bin Space With This Simple Flight Tip

By Nicole Cord-Cruz

VACATIONS

Overhead bins are communal baggage storage spaces that can fill up quickly. The best way to increase your odds of securing that coveted space is to pay for priority boarding.
You can get priority boarding by buying a first or business-class ticket, or you can pay for it separately. For instance, United Airlines charges $24 to move you up to Group 2.
Having an airline credit card can bump you up to boarding Group 1 in some cases, as can having elite status by being a loyal flier with one airline.
If you don't want to pay, you can try booking a specific seat. For example, United Airlines boards those in window or exit row seats before those in middle or aisle seats.
