VACATIONS
Montana is filled with natural beauty and features 55 state parks. One park in particular, despite its impressive size, doesn't get the attention it deserves: Makoshika State Park.
This location is made of badland formations including tall, flat boulders, steep canyons, and spires reaching up to the sky. There are lots of events held inside the park.
Campfire nights during the summer are popular, as well as festivals featuring corn hole tournaments, marathons, and train rides. The park also sometimes offers full moon hikes.
Makoshika also features fossils, including a triceratops skull and a nearly complete Thescelosaurus. Visitors will also find evidence of the K-T boundary line.
Makoshika also has camping sites with various amenities and plenty of trails. To avoid extreme weather conditions and participate in the programs, visit between May and September.
