Rick Steves On The Best Time To Plan Your Next Italy Trip

VACATIONS

When it comes to the weather, there are some months in Italy that are easier to travel through than others. Travel expert Rick Steves shared his thoughts on the best time.
Steves advises visiting in May, June, September, or October when the weather is not as hot as it is in July and August because walking is a major part of the experience in Italy.
Rome in August can bring highs of above 90 degrees Fahrenheit. It can still take up to three hours to wait in line for the Coliseum in May, but at least you won't be frying in the sun.
Steves also suggests visiting Italy from November to April, which is less busy than May to October. The weather will be cooler, with temperatures in the 40s up north and 50s in Rome.
