The Clever Way Rick Steves Determines The Best Places To Eat In Italy

VACATIONS

Italy is known for its delicious cuisine, but to avoid overpaying for low-quality food at a touristy restaurant, travel expert Rick Steves tells us to look for a place with a TV.
He explains, "when an eatery has the TV playing, it's often because it's where the local workers drop by to eat...and that indicates a low price and a good value."
To find an amazing meal, he suggests eating outside of tourist hot spots and avoiding restaurants whose menus have giant pictures of food or several languages on them.
Steves also says to look for a small menu. If it's handwritten, even better, because they're probably using fresh ingredients that change frequently.
