Waterfall in Letchworth State Park

The East Coast State Park That Looks Like The Grand Canyon

VACATIONS

New York's Letchworth State Park is home to a staggeringly deep, waterfall-filled forest gorge that has earned the nickname Grand Canyon of the East.
The Genesee River carved the deep canyon, and its sheer walls rise 550 feet at the deepest points of the gorge. The canyon has three huge waterfalls and many more smaller ones.
One of the best ways to see the view over the gorge is on the Letchworth State Park Gorge Trail, which passes two out of three of the biggest waterfalls in the park.
As the park has around 66 miles of hiking trails, vernal pools filled with tiny ecosystems, thrilling whitewater rafting trips, there's plenty to do in Letchworth.
Letchworth is open year round from 6 a.m.-11 p.m., and you can rent campsites for $27-35 per night, rustic cabins for $132-$575 per week, or a hotel room for $300 per night.
