Some passports are more powerful than others. While many countries tie for the highest rankings compiled by the Henley Passport Index, one comes out on top: Singapore.
Passport Index scores are based on where passport holders can go without a visa, with the top possible score being 227. Singapore has 195, while the United States has just 188.
Philippe May, Managing Director of Arton Capital's Singapore office, says the score "is a testament of Singapore's inclusive diplomatic relations and effective foreign policy."
Since first earning the top spot in 2017, Singapore has regularly fought Japan to maintain its spot. The two traded places a few times, and Japan is now in one of the No. 2 spots.
A country's ranking on the passport list is intrinsically tied to its economy and wealth in the world. Being able to travel freely is a privilege not to be taken lightly.
