Bird's eye view of the Kancamagus Highway

The New Hampshire Roadway That Has Some Of America's Best Fall Foliage

VACATIONS

To see incredible views of fall foliage from the warmth of your car, head over to the East Coast's Kancamagus Highway, also known as New Hampshire Highway 112.
Called the Kanc for short, the road runs through the beautiful country in the White Mountain National Forest. It starts out low, then climbs to around 3,000 feet above sea level.
For the best views on the Kanc, go when the foliage colors are at their peak brightness and color, which is often during the first two weeks of October.
Some of the best spots on the Kanc include the Pemigewasset Overlook, at 2,810 feet above sea level, and the Hancock Overlook, which is at 2,133 feet.
The highway gets busy around peak foliage time, so plan your trip for midweek to avoid weekend traffic. The 34.5-mile drive along the Kanc takes about an hour with no stops.
