The Only Tropical Rainforest In The US Feels Like Paradise

VACATIONS

El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the United States, located 45 minutes outside Puerto Rico, San Juan. Since it's on U.S. soil, citizens don't need a passport to visit.
Covering over 28,000 acres, El Yunque is considered a sacred place to the locals. Visitors can enjoy epic hikes, natural wonders, and unique wildlife viewing.
The park's trails lead to waterfalls, swimming pools, and rushing river waters. Keep your eye out for native plants such as orchids and over 150 species of ferns.
In El Yunque, visitors can spot the coquí — a tiny frog endemic to the region — or the Puerto Rican Parrot, though this is rare as there are only a few dozen left.
At the Caribali Adventure Park at the base of El Yunque National Forest, adventure seekers can ATV through the forest, ride along the Mameyes River, or ride horses on the beach.
