The Real Reason Your Passport Didn't Get Stamped At The Airport

VACATIONS

Passports serve as a pass to enter a country and return home. It is a valid form of identification, but the best part is the stamps you get while visiting other countries.
Countries are going digital, so the days of collecting stamps are dwindling. Australia introduced the SmartGate system in 2007, using biometrics like facial recognition and chips.
In 2022, U.S. Customs and Border Protection completed the rolling out of digital entry stamps, letting eligible travelers breeze through e-gates for a quicker immigration process.
Eventually, we might not even need physical passports because everything will be digitized. However, for the time being, you can still ask for a stamp if you really want one.
