VACATIONS
Lavaux, Switzerland is a favorite spot for travel pro Samantha Brown. The region makes delicious, underrated wine and is perfect for travelers looking to hike.
Brown says of the area, "There are around 22 miles of trails to wind your way through different vineyards." You can also take the trails by bike or ride a tram.
The Lavaux UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Vaud region of Switzerland covers nearly 19 miles of terraced vineyards, and you can take walking and biking tours through it.
Bring your hiking gear because you can cover quite a bit of ground. Don't skip sunscreen as there isn't a lot of shade, be aware of ticks, and book winery appointments beforehand.
The gorgeous 4.3-mile Lavaux Vineyard — Cully to Saint Saphorin hike goes along Lake Geneva through the vineyards. For a challenge, try the 7 mile Saint Saphorin — Lutry trail.
