VACATIONS

Silver Sands State Park in Milford, Connecticut, is celebrated for having some of the East Coast's best beaches, attracting visitors in the summer for swimming and lounging.
This state park boasts a wide, flat boardwalk that allows visitors to take leisurely, scenic strolls along the water, making it accessible for people of all fitness levels.
A unique attraction at Silver Sands is the sandbar that occasionally appears at low tide, providing a temporary pathway to Charles Island, a nature preserve just off the coast.
This sandbar allows visitors to walk across what seems like a path in the ocean. However, timing is crucial as the rising tide can quickly submerge it and make crossing dangerous.
Silver Sands is also a haven for birdwatchers. The park and surrounding areas are a critical habitat for over 200 bird species, including gulls, ospreys, and snowy egrets.
