VACATIONS
When visiting Iceland, visitors typically go to Reykjavik, the capital. However, a stop in Akureyri, the nation’s second-largest city, is a must for its beauty and less crowds.
It has a small-town vibe and it’s a great place to explore the stunning landscapes of northern Iceland. It’s close to Eyjafjörður Fjord and has vibrant culture and culinary scenes.
Akureyri is a short flight from the capital, but it’s close to the countryside. Visitors can book excursions to Iceland's Goðafoss or the nearby Lake Mývatn area.
In the city, you can go to museums and enjoy the food scene. Fresh seafood is a must at Rub 23 or you can eat like a local with traditional Icelandic fare at Strikið.
