What Happens When You Fly With A Small Tear In Your Passport

By Hillary Louise Johnson

VACATIONS

Significant damage to your passport requires it to be replaced, but if you have a small tear and can't get it replaced before traveling, it will be up to the customs agent.
One Redditor reported successfully flying to Vietnam and India on a passport with a small tear where her dog had chewed on the corner.
Whatever you do, don't attempt to make any repairs, as that invalidates it immediately, and normal wear and tear does not warrant a replacement.
To replace your passport before a trip, getting it reissued can take up to eight weeks. If you're overseas when the damage occurs, contact the nearest embassy or consulate.
