the Trevi fountain in Rome
Why It Might Not Be Worth Visiting Rome's Iconic Trevi Fountain

VACATIONS

The Trevi Fountain is an iconic, must-see spot in Rome, but so many people go to the site each day that it might be overwhelming and worth it to visit somewhere else.
There are wonderful things about this fountain, like how the coins tossed in are given to charity. Sadly, you'll feel rushed and will likely be harassed by pickpockets and vendors.
You also can't drink, eat, or sit on the edge or you'll be fined. In 2020, the then-mayor of Rome even proposed limiting the number of people who can visit each day.
There are alternative fountains that you'll have an easier time enjoying. There is the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi and the Fontana del Tritone, both made by Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
