VACATIONS
Some cities are known for being unwelcoming, but a gorgeous and historic city in Italy has been voted the most friendly in Europe by readers of CN Traveller: Siena in Tuscany.
As we recently noted during a trip to Siena, many locals will be happy to talk to you, and several came up to see if we were enjoying our day while sitting in the piazza.
At the 13th-century Piazza del Campo, you can enjoy the city's ambiance and chat with kind locals. In the summer, you can witness the famous Palio race.
Guests should also visit the Piazza del Duomo’s Italian Romanesque-Gothic cathedral to see legendary artworks and the gothic palace Palazzo Salimbeni, the oldest bank in the world.
