Why Tourists Should Visit Atrani For A Taste Of Medieval Italy

VACATIONS
One of the country’s most iconic destinations, Italy's Amalfi Coast can get overcrowded with tourists. However, there are lesser-known gems, such as Atrani.
While Atrani is often mistaken for a smaller Amalfi neighborhood, the town has a history reaching back to the Middle Ages when the area was a maritime republic.
The 10th-century church Chiesa del Salvatore is one of the main attractions alongside the Collegiata di Santa Maria Maddalena Penitente, which overlooks the beach and sea.
Atrani also offers some top-rated restaurants like the Le Palme Pizzeria and Le Arcate. However, the town only has a few small hotels and apartment rentals for overnight visits.
Visitors can reach the town by road or sea. The ferry from Naples only stops at the Port of Amalfi, so you will need to take a bus or use the pedestrian tunnel to reach Atrani.
