Less than an hour from the well-known Zion National Park, Utah's most popular state park, Sand Hollow State Park, offers an adventure-filled alternative.
Known for its startlingly red rocks, otherworldly red sand, and cool water, Sand Hollow is truly a wonder in the desert, providing plenty of ways to enjoy the area.
Visitors can swim, boat, jet ski, or even scuba dive at this artificial lake beach. On land, guests can explore the area on foot or by taking a thrilling ride on an ATV.
In an interview with At Your Leisure, park ranger Doug Denton explained, "Sand Hollow is one of the only places here where you're gonna have a reservoir next to sand dunes."
Entrance is $20, or $15 for locals, to get a pass for your car for the day. If you come in on foot or a bicycle, it's $5 per person.
The park also offers camping near the lake or dunes for those who want to stay overnight. These campsites have bathrooms, showers, and RV hookups.
