5 Surprising Island Rum Drinks
Sparkling Sunshine

– 1 and 1/2 oz. Bacardi Torched Cherry rum
– 1/2 oz. Don Q. Cristal rum
– 1 and 1/2 oz. apple juice
– 1 oz. rosé champagne
Mix rums and apple juice, pour over ice and splash with the champage. Serve cold.
**Black and Blue Mojito

– 1 and 3/4 oz. Mount Gay Silver Eclipse rum
– 1/2 oz. simple syrup
– Handful of blackberries
– 4 lime wedges
– 5-6 sprigs of mint
– Splash of club soda
Muddle the berries and mint together in a shaker with the juice of the lime wedges. Add ice and rum, then shake and pour, splashing with soda. Garnish with blackberries and a lime wedge.
**Botran Papa Doble

– 1 and 1/2 oz. Botran Solera rum
– 1/4 oz. Luxardo Maraschino liquor
– 3/4 oz. fresh squeezed lime juice
– 3/4 oz. cane sugar simple syrup
– 1/2 oz. fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
Combine rum and other ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake vigorously and strain into a martini or cocktail glass, garnishing with a lime slice.
**DonQ Island Juju

– 2 oz. DonQ Añejo rum
– 1 oz. tamarind purée
– 1/2 oz. demerara syrup
– 1/2 oz. lime juice
– 1/2 oz. Velvet Falernum
– 1 barspoon of absinthe
– Two dashes of orange bitters
– Mint and pineapple for garnish
Setting absinthe aside, shake rum and other ingredients together with ice. Strain into a highball glass filled with crushed ice and top with absinthe. Garnish with a mint sprig and pineapple wedge.

– 1 and 1/2 oz. 5 year Ron Cartavio Anniversario rum
– 1 oz. black cherry purée
– 3/4 fresh lemon
– 1/2 oz. simple syrup
– 1/4 Velvet Falernum
Combine ingredients in a shaker, shake vigorously and serve over ice with a lime garnish.
