My husband and I were taking pictures of the Caramoan region from a helicopter when the pilot dropped in on this slice of paradise. The people in those resort cabanas, walled in by limestone outcroppings, were surprised to see us. This wasn't listed as a Philippines destination till 2008, when scouts for Survivor in Europe made a similar flyover. It has since been the set for two U.S. seasons. They wanted a spot lost in time. (This is definitely it). To get here, we took a short boat ride from here to a river where thousands of fireflies made the mangroves look fully lit for Christmas. They even blinked in sync. I'd never seen anything like it.
