Margaritaville Resort Opening On Belize's Ambergris Caye In 2020

The Jimmy Buffett-influenced lifestyle brand brings 71 condo units to the island's northern end.

Hot on the heels of recent additions in Costa Rica and Orlando, Margaritaville Holdings announced that Parrotheads and like-minded tropical escapists will soon be able to unwind on Belize's largest island, Ambergris Caye.

Slated to open in early 2020, Margaritaville Resort Belize will offer 71 residences on the northern end of the island, just south of the Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve. Guests will enjoy one- and two-bedroom condos in addition to a variety of amenities, including two pools, beach access, kayaking, sailing, fishing, hiking, whale watching, and simply relaxing in hammocks. Of course, some of the Jimmy Buffett-inspired brand's signature restaurants and beverages (by the pitcher) will be available, but there will also be grilling stations for the DIY foodies that want to make their own cheeseburger in paradise.

And that's just to pass the time in between experiencing Belize's Barrier Reef, exploring the Great Blue Hole, visiting Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley, and enjoying everything San Pedro offers. In fact, the toughest part of the trip will be deciding whether or not to move there.

In a statement, Buffett sings praises of Belize, having "enjoyed the natural beauty of the country and extremely warm friendship of Belizeans for decades." His business partner and Margaritaville CEO John Cohlan adds, "Belize is the fastest-growing destination in the Caribbean and with good reason, as it really is one of the most beautiful places in the world."

Beyond Belize, Margaritaville resorts will soon be changing attitudes in a number of new locations. Joining the new properties in Central Florida and Guanacaste, Costa Rica, are resorts in Fort Myers, Nassau and Panama City Beach.
