We’re happy to share some good news on Puerto Rico’s recovery efforts after Hurricane Maria: the Serafina Beach Hotel has officially opened its doors in San Juan. The beachfront hotel blends Miami Beach’s chic design with the seductive history of the Caribbean.
Located in the city’s Condado district just minutes from Old Town, the boutique hotel features many “wow” factors, including waterfront views, an oceanfront infinity pool flanked by cabanas and 96 rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows.
If the name Serafina sounds familiar, that’s because the hotel is the first such property launched by the Serafina Restaurant Group, the New York-based partnership of Fabio Granato and Vittorio Assaf whose eateries have carved their own mark on Italian dining.
“Expanding the Serafina brand into a lifestyle hotel experience is a natural fit,” Assaf announced in a statement. “San Juan is a city close to our hearts and we could think of no better place to bring to life the essence of Serafina in a hotel experience. Serafina Beach Hotel really captures the energy of the Condado district with stylish lounges, sleek guestrooms and signature Serafina hospitality.”
Among the highlights of the property, which opened March 20, are:
- New dining concepts, including the aMare Restaurant (serving Mediterranean-themed cuisine fused with Puerto Rican ingredients) and the PiñaCo Bar, which offers Caribbean rums, cold-pressed juices, detox shots and craft cocktails.
- Three indoor and outdoor venues to host business meetings, celebrations and weddings.
- Access to local excursions such as nightly kayak trips, private helicopter tours and expert guides to trips through San Juan’s cultural areas (including three UNESCO World Heritage Sites).
Designed by New York-based design and branding studio ICRAVE, Serafina Beach Hotel is accented by pieces from native Puerto Rican artists such as Sofia Maldonado and Gerardo Cloquell. Each of the guest rooms has 325 square feet, with views of the ocean to the north and Laguna del Condado and city lights to the south. Five oceanfront terrace rooms feature a 140-square- foot balcony that extends over the pool deck. The property is 10 minutes from San Juan Luis Muñoz Marín Airport.
