Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun Wants Your Best Cocktail Recipe

One lucky mixologist will win a free trip and maybe even a spot on the menu.

We've spent the better part of 2020 reaching out to our favorite resorts and hotels around the world to share their best, most creative and/or signature cocktails with us, and we've barely scratched the surface. But now, the brand new Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun resort is flipping the script by asking Parrotheads and world travelers to offer up their own cocktails, with one lucky mixologist earning a free stay at the brand's first property in Mexico.

The contest rules are pretty simple: create your very own cocktail that is inspired by Margaritaville and the "Limelife" vibe, follow Margaritaville Island Reserve Resorts on Instagram and Facebook, and share an image of your signature cocktail on social media, using #MVCocktailContest and tagging Margaritaville Island Reserve Resorts. And make sure it's actually your own creation and not something you once drank at a Caribbean resort and want to pass off as your own. People will know.

One incredibly lucky winner will receive a pretty cool vacation experience, enjoying a free three-night stay in a king-size Paradise Room, which boasts a terrace and classic tropical décor that will delight just about any Jimmy Buffett fan. Even cooler than that, though, is the opportunity to take part in a cocktail class during the stay, and there's even a possibility that this very special cocktail ends up on the resort's bar menus. That's every amateur marg mixologist's dream come true. So, don't spend too much time in your hammock this weekend. The deadline is August 24.

Originally scheduled to open in March, Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun's official debut was obviously pushed back due to Covid-19. Instead, the resort opened on July 1 under Karisma's "Peace of Mind" health and safety protocols, which were developed in cooperation with a variety of health organizations.

The flagship for Margaritaville's Island Reserve all-inclusive concept, the Cancun property boasts four pools, four restaurants and six bars—every Parrothead's dream come true. The Parakeets Kid's Club will keep young guests occupied and entertained, while parents attend craft margarita classes, spend a few hours at the spa, or simply take advantage of any number of beach activities.

Island Reserve properties are also set to open in Riviera Maya and Cap Cana in 2021.
