Between Detroit And Buffalo Is An Idyllic Nature Resort With Glamping, Ziplining, And On-Site Dining
Between Detroit and Buffalo is an all-in-one outdoor adventure resort where you can immerse yourself in nature, without giving up creature comforts. Long Point Eco-Adventures is located in St. Williams, Ontario, roughly two hours by car from Buffalo and three hours from Detroit. Once you arrive at the property, you'll find lodging (including glamping pods), activities, and restaurants, all in one place. The owners created Long Point Eco-Adventures from a 37-acre tobacco farm, transforming it into the outdoor adventure property it is now. Located alongside the Long Point Biosphere Reserve, the resort works to focus on sustainability and conservation and boasts gorgeous views overlooking the Turkey Point Marsh. It also boasts wellness activities like its sauna and cold plunge, making it a relaxing place near Lake Erie people can go to for an idyllic nature getaway.
While your family may have a variety of interests, you can tailor the trip by choosing from various activities that are all offered on the property. If you're up to it, one activity that is a must according to some previous guests is a ziplining tour. The guided tour lasts 2.5 hours with eight ziplines and a canopy tour section. Several Google Maps reviews mentioned how the guides made the tour even more enjoyable. While you can plan the trip by adding the lodging and activities together as you go, you can also pick from the vacation packages that make the planning easier for you.
Comfy glamping accommodations
Long Point has glamping accommodations with a range of options and amenities. There are glamping pods that have a real bed in them with A/C, but guests have to walk to a shared bathroom. Then there are the "Elite Pods" that have their own shower and toilet. If you are traveling with a group, there are glamping pods in clusters you can book together. The "Wilderness Suite" is a canvas glamping tent with amenities including an outdoor shower and a private restroom. Besides the glamping accommodations, there are even more options to choose from, such as a big group cabin and a bunkhouse. The glamping options range from roughly $130 per night for the cheaper camping cabins to $300 per night for the suites. Some of the accommodations are dog-friendly, but it is a good idea to call and double-check before booking.
During your stay at Long Point Eco-Adventures, you can get breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the main restaurant, Marshview Patio & Bar. There are also a few spots on the property to grab a drink, including at Marshview, Wishbone Brewing's branch location at Long Point Eco-Adventures, and Burning Kiln Winery, which is a two-minute drive away. Ziplining, kayaking, and more at Long Point Eco-Adventures
If you like exploring, there are several different activities to choose from at Long Point Eco-Adventures. With its proximity to the nature reserve, you can visit the on-site turtle hatchery to learn more about turtles in the area and the work being done to protect them. Depending on when you go, you could even join a turtle hatchling release and see the hatchlings return to their natural environment. You can also learn about foraging from local experts, take a guided kayak tour during the day, or take a glowing kayak to see the marsh at dark. If you're lucky, you might get to see nocturnal animals along the way. Taking a mountain bike out is another great way to explore, and there is access to more than 50 miles of mountain biking trails nearby as part of the Turkey Point Mountain Bike Club trail network.
On the more relaxing side, there is an observatory and planetarium on site where people can stargaze and learn about the night sky. With the property surrounded by water and nature, the sky has less light pollution than neighboring towns, making it ideal for spotting constellations and taking astrophotography. While the telescope is being worked on, the price is reduced by 50% as of this writing. If you're looking to unwind after kayaking and stargazing, there is an outdoor spa experience that includes cycling through the sauna and cold plunge.
