What We Know About Oprah Winfrey's Rumored Paradise-Like Vacation Home In The Caribbean
The billionaire media mogul Oprah Winfrey owns many homes, from her primary residence, a luxurious 42-acre estate in Montecito, California, to a sprawling property on Hawaii's iconic Maui Island. One of her paradise-like vacation homes is located near the Caribbean coral island heaven of Antigua. While not much has been disclosed to the public about it, there are a few details we know about the residence, including its location and the style of similar homes in the neighborhood.
According to Architectural Digest, Oprah's Caribbean home is a chateau on Jumby Bay, a private island located 2 miles off the coast of Antigua. (For context, the country officially known as Antigua and Barbuda is made up of three main islands and a collection of smaller islets, some of which are privately owned.) You can only get there on a private ferry from a dock at Barnacle Point, which is just a short drive from V.C. Bird International Airport (ANU), Antigua's main travel hub. From there, it's just a five- to 10-minute boat ride to Jumby Bay.
Welcome to the private island of Jumby Bay, Antigua
Getting to Jumby Bay may be relatively straightforward, but you can only access the island if you own a home there, like Oprah, or if you're a guest at one of its exclusive lodgings managed by the Oetker Hotel Group. In addition to 56 estates on the idyllic 300-acre island, some of which are owned by famous names like Winfrey and the Italian fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, Jumby Bay is home to the five-star resort Jumby Bay Island.
We may not know much about Winfrey's waterfront chateau, besides the fact that it's reportedly named Mangrove Point, and that she's probably owned it since at least 2010. But taking a look at the resort's website, you'll get a good idea of what the island's sleek, luxurious properties are generally like. Picture infinity pools overlooking sweeping sea views and pristine white-sand beaches, gorgeously landscaped tropical gardens, palatial terraces, and state-of-the-art kitchens, and you're probably not far off the style of Oprah's postcard-perfect island home. Oprah's escape in the Caribbean
Apart from specifics on her private home, more is known about the atmosphere on the island itself. According to the New York Post, the island is "clubby" and "upscale," a place where the ultra-rich zip around on golf carts and sip fine champagne — and where some non-resident guests spend over $10,000 per night on lavish accommodations.
But another source from the same article, published in 2021, real estate liaison Andrew Robson, had a different perspective. While noting that homes on the island at the time were going from anywhere between $9.5 million and $28 million, he said that Jumby Bay epitomizes quiet luxury. "It's very understated," Robson commented. "For some people, it isn't quite as glitzy as they want it to be. But for others, and for the people who end up owning here, it's perfect and comfortable with itself."
Sounds perfect for Oprah, who famously values "little luxuries" and "cozy comforts," per Oprah's Favorite Things 2025 list. But she also values her privacy, and as Architectural Digest points out, not only do we not know much about her Caribbean vacation home — we also don't know for sure if she still owns the property.
