Yatesville Lake State Park is located on Yatesville Lake, one of Kentucky's best bodies of water for fishing. Covering 2,300 acres of surface, this winding reservoir is a paradise for cruising on the water — be it using a human-powered vessel or motorized watercraft. Equipped with a marina for your angling and boating needs, the lake is a great place to beat the heat in the summer. And with a variety of fish species in the lake, you can't forget your rod at home. The campground is open seasonally (between March and November), and despite its modest size, it boasts a decent range of campsites. There are a total of 47 sites available, with tent-only hike-in, boat-in, and RV hookup spots. If you're looking for a primitive retreat, pick one of the four rustic, hike-in campsites located in the woods. Those traveling with RVs can book one of the 27 standard electric back-in sites spread out across two separate areas. Of these campsites, three have ADA-accessible features. Amenities consist of restrooms, a bathhouse, and a dump station. Laundry facilities are available, too.

On top of that, the Yatesville Lake State Park campgrounds give you the opportunity to enjoy boat-in camping, with 16 sites scattered on the lake shore. You can access these paths from the marina — one of them is a mile-long ADA-accessible nature trail, which you can get on via three trailheads. The Pleasant Ridge Trail System, on the other hand, covers the campground area and parts of the lake shore. The Multi-Use Trail also spans over 20 miles and is open to everyone, including horseback riders.

While you're traversing the paths, bring your binoculars along to observe some of the birds that call this place their home. Meandering through the forests and meadows, you have the chance to view woodpeckers, cardinals, and wild turkeys roaming in the wild. The warmer months bring hummingbird and robin sightings, while bald eagles like to surprise visitors by the marina and dam.
