New Jersey's Six Flags Announces A Roller Coaster Opening In 2027 Will Break Numerous World Records

Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson Township, New Jersey is proudly boasting about its newest roller coaster, which is set to break multiple world records when it debuts in spring 2027. Not only will it be the world's tallest and fastest ride of its kind, but also the first-ever "floorless spinning coaster," a gravity-defying experience unlike any other. The record-breaking attraction is called Bakunawa, named after a mythological sea serpent in Filipino and Southeast Asian folklore. 

Legend has it, Bakunawa emerges from the ocean depths and attempts to swallow the moon, causing lunar eclipses to occur. The Six Flags ride will mimic this colossal creature by launching passengers into the sky at soaring speeds, as if to reach the moon. The track twists and turns at up to 100 miles per hour — faster than any coaster on Earth, according to the amusement park – making your eyes water and your heart race in a way that only a roller coaster can. Just when you think you're going to touch the moon at 382 feet in the air, you'll pull a 180 and follow the track backwards to where you began — a thrill you'll likely never forget.

According to Six Flags, Bakunawa is set to claim six world records.
