New England's Pristine Beach Beauty Is A Historic Connecticut City With Local Eats And Plenty Of Coastline

Just outside Connecticut's bustling university city of New Haven lies a town rife with New England charm: West Haven. For those looking to do some exploring in the country's Northeast, this town is a great jumping-off point, perfectly situated between Boston and New York. First founded in 1648, this area has a unique history. During the American Revolution, West Haven was rife with turmoil as 3,500 soldiers of the British Army marched through at Savin Rock in 1779. And although it has technically existed for more than 350 years, it wasn't incorporated as a town until 1961, making it the youngest city in the Nutmeg State. 

Today, it's known for beaches, pizza and seafood eats, and its many parks and farms. West Haven is full of fun things to do. A highly rated activity here is a trip to B&B Flower Farm. Although it does have a nice beach, it also offers visitors a paved bike path, great views, food trucks, and a Vietnam Veterans War Memorial.
