Michael is a well-rounded journalist with experience reporting on travel, international affairs, crime, and sports. Before joining Islands as a news writer, Michael wrote for the South African publication, Daily Maverick, with a specialization in international crime. In his college years, he wrote for the publication Inside NU and provided coverage on Northwestern University Athletics. In 2022, he served as the lead reporter for the professional baseball organization the Chicago Dogs.

Michael has a Bachelor of Science from the Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism.
